The on-line capability of LIBS offers a great advantage of analyzing powdered raw materials direct on the conveyer belt without any sample preparation. Therefore, a LIBS system is placed above the process line (e.g. conveyer belt) and provides a chemical analysis within milliseconds (ms). In order to reduced fluctuations caused by a changing sample height, a fast autofocus unit is used with a varying working distance between 600 to 900 mm.
The on-line analysis of glass or cement during the production as well as the reconditioning of slags and refractories are typical application.
