Laser ablation control
Analytical Monitoring of Laser Ablation Processes Determining the material removal by chemical analysis
Laser ablation (laser evaporation) designates material removal from surfaces by bombardment with intensive laser radiation. The procedure is used industrially for targeted removal of coatings or impurities. In these processes it is often required to meet predefined removal depths precisely. The element analyzer FiberLIBS can be used optimally for this purpose. The measuring system is placed directly downstream of the ablation laser in the process and analyzes independent of the procedure the ablation of the processed surface. An element analysis determines the quality of the material removal and monitors it continuously.
